Ian Boddy

Ian is the principal in his own technology consultancy IKBConsulting which he established in 2011 after a significant time as GM Commercial at AgResearch

With a degree in chemistry and biochemistry a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry, three years as a postdoctoral research Fellow at Cambridge University and then 6 years as a Senior Research Leader with Schering AG in Germany, Ian has an exceptionally strong science background. This coupled with his extensive commercial knowledge and industry networks allows him to easily facilitate breaking down the science – business divide.

Ian is an established and respected consultant operating across a number of fields primarily in the agri/biotech sectors helping companies to commercialise their new innovations. He is exceedingly well connected across the research and agritech sectors and is able to use these networks to allow companies to find innovative collaborative ways to commercialise their technologies through focusing on actually doing deals. He is experienced in deal structuring and licensing and loves seeing local companies create value through collaborative efforts.

He also has a strong Governance background being a member of the NZ Institute of Directors serving on the Boards of numerous companies with a focus on start-up companies. This focus with early stage companies has also given Ian hands on experience on new company formation, capital raising and exit strategies.
